WHEN I BEGAN TO WRITE Quick Money Secrets, what I had in mind
was a little home business guide on how and where to quickly
and prudently borrow money for personal needs, home business startup, and ordinary business
cash flow problems.
Then, given today's today’s economy and the number of people
who are hurting for extra income, I decided to expand my eBook to include
practical ideas on a variety of things the average individual or home business
owner could do to first cut expenses, and then quickly raise some extra cash
before going further into debt with a loan of any kind.
Then I decided to do
something I’ve never done before. I queried my subscriber list to see who might
like to review my new eBook prior to publication. I offered a review copy
to the first five subscribers who sent me a compelling reason for why they
needed to raise money in a hurry. I wasn’t prepared for the the kind of replies I
immediately received from more than sixty readers.
Their honest (and sometimes heartbreaking responses) gave me new
perspective on the kind of serious financial problems many individuals and
business owners in my home business network are having today. I
also learned that several of my readers thought this new eBook was going to tell them how to
MAKE money (as opposed to raising or borrowing it). Some apparently hoped it
would offer some
kind of miracle solution to their serious indebtedness or dire need for fast
cash. This alerted me to the need
to be especially clear in how I described this particular eBook so I didn’t
accidentally mislead prospective buyers.
When the review comments began to come in from my selected reviewers and
others on my regular PR list, I was surprised to receive not only
the favorable
reviews posted here, but some very constructive criticism that enabled me to
make a good eBook even better.
The Difference Between
"In a Hurry" and "Quickly"
Comments from my helpful reviewers also prompted me to change the subtitle of
my eBook from How to Raise Cash in a Hurry to How to Quickly Raise or Borrow
Needed Cash. Frankly, I had never though about the difference in these
phrases before because, to me, both simply meant pretty darned fast.
But there is a difference. "Quickly" actually means "within a short time," while "in a
hurry" suggests great haste, greater urgency, and something definitely faster than
"quickly." My eBook offers several good quick money tips, but money
doesn't grow on trees, and one does need to be
realistic here. As used in the subtitle of this eBook, "quickly" may mean
anything from a few days to a month or more, depending on the money-generating
or money-raising method being employed.
This is NOT a
How-to-Make-Money Guide
Because some of my readers clearly thought this eBook was a guide to how
to make money at home, I’ve taken great care to explain exactly what is in this
eBook, who it will help, and who it will NOT help. I don’t want anyone to buy
this ebook thinking it’s a home business guide
(like my best-selling trade books, Homemade Money and
Creative Cash), or a solution to severe money problems
that may need nothing less than a miracle to resolve.
As I’ve stated on the home
page, if you have nothing personal you can sell, no customer list to market to,
your credit cards are maxed out, and no one in their right mind would lend you a
dollar. . . don't buy this eBook. No eBook can solve that kind of financial
problem.

Business Owners Write . . .
"My husband and I both have pretty good paying jobs, but
between back-breaking medical expenses (and lousy health insurance), almost stagnant income levels until recently, plus the astronomical cost
of gas and everything else, we're really hurting. I have a small business I've
been trying to get off the ground for almost three years now, but my day job
keeps interfering."
"I lay awake at night wracking my brain trying to figure out how to make more
money, how to get my home business sales up, and spend hours online trying to
improve what I've already done so I can raise the extra cash we need now."
"My husband's student loans for his second master's degree are coming due but
he doesn't have a job yet, I am disabled and can't get a regular job, but I
don't know how to make my at-home business work quickly enough to keep our heads
above water."
"I recently turned a hobby into a home business. I got a website up and
running and now I would love the opportunity to make some cash in a hurry while
I continue to learn to be a successful business owner."
"My need for
immediate cash is due to a downsized business and being over
$20,000 in debt while needing to get a child off to college this fall."
"My husband and I would like to be able to generate enough cash flow to take
some of the debt burden off so that our businesses could really take off."
"I would love some ideas about making some quick cash so I could give my
business the shot in the arm it needs to get the momentum it will need when
I can devote all my time to the endeavor."
"I need to raise cash in order to add on to my garage in order to take our
crafting business to the next level."
"I have been a successful home business owner for years, but I am barely able
to work now that I’m in a wheelchair. Since I cannot be alone day or night now,
I need money to get quality live-in care."
"My husband has been disabled since 1999, but we’re still trying to get
him approved for social security disability. Meanwhile, I am now
both caregiver and the sole support of our family. We are broke, and I am beyond
stressed! I'm in desperate need of additional income."
New & Would-be Home Business Owners Write . . .
"I'm trying to raise some money to start a new business publishing how-to
books for watercolor painters. I'm not in dire need of cash; it would just be
nice to have more money to invest in my new venture."
"I need some inspiration and great ideas on how to start making money with my
business -- to help us get out of debt and to help me mentally by doing
something productive and rewarding with my life."
"I would love to learn new ways to jump-start my business to make it more
profitable so that perhaps I don't need to go back to work after all, or perhaps
at least not full time."
"My most compelling need for money is to be able to quit the job that
provides me the cash flow to live, but not the joy of what I want to do. Some
quick cash would enable me to make that jump without the fear of how to get
through those first few months."
"I have a decent job and I am managing to survive, but just barely.
What
really is lacking is a purpose to my life. I have come across a great business
idea and would like to pursue it, but a lack of money stands in the way. Also I
would like to do more than survive--I want to flourish! I believe money (or lack
of it) is standing in my way."

Not All Money Needs are Serious!
In fact, a couple of the messages I received were light-hearted and humorous,
like these:
"I am preparing to change the health care system across the globe. With this
mission in mind, I am sure you can see that I would need money."
"Daughter's moving back in, water bill is about to hit the ceiling! Also have
some major web projects to finance."
"As part of my business activities, I earned an all-expense-paid trip to
Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. It covers airfare, resort accommodations and meals. But
I need quick cash to pay for the optional side excursions, souvenirs and
incidentals."
"The most compelling reason to be able to raise cash in a hurry is that I like
money and want to keep myself in the manner to which my wife has 'forced' me to be accustomed."
As for Barbara Brabec's need for money . . . I’m concerned about having enough
money to get through my old age without having to be dependent on any one else.
I also need more income to offset my growing business overhead costs as I work
to build new websites, offer new services, and publish new books that will help others
realize their dreams, become independent through self-employment, and earn more
money even as I earn some myself by selling my services and information to them.
On the lighter side, I need extra income to support the new perennial
gardening and landscaping project I began last spring. (My neighbor told me my
new interest in redoing my yard would become addictive, and she was right.)

"I am an older single woman who followed her heart and family and changed my
job a little over a year ago and jumped into the frying pan of real estate
sales. I do think I can make it there, but I NEED $ to keep me going until
things pick up a bit more."
"I'm a single parent, aged 62. I have a low paying day job that bores me to death
and I see no way to improve on that situation. At my age it is hard to find another
job in my area, even though I have lots of computer skills. I have ideas for a business
I can run from home but it will take awhile to establish. There are some setup costs, but not a lot."
"I am a senior trying to get a new home business started, but I’m stymied by
lack of cash for small but necessary items to get started."
"I have a two-year old daughter and an eight-year old son with autism. His
expenses are unreal, and unfortunately insurance does not cover them. I would
love to help financially working from home to help my children and give them
what they need."
"We are broke.
I'm trying to start a home business with my writing and crafts.
I have been out of work for almost two years. I have several health problems
that most employers wouldn't understand."
"I would like to have a home based business because of my children are in
elementary school and I feel that it is important that I am around for them."
"My life has turned upside down in the past year and the cash just isn't flowing
the way it needs to be. I am looking for ways to create income quickly and
regularly."
"I am married
to a working man, but in this day and age I feel it's VERY
important to be able to support myself and be prepared if anything any which
way goes downward. It has been hammered into the heads of females that we need to be
prepared, and for me it has finally sunk into my brain. I'm hoping to get to the
point where I'm making a monthly salary with my art."
